John Tozer January 14, 1942 - March 20, 2024
John Tozer, 82, of Millville, NJ passed away March 20, 2024 at Inspira Vineland. John lived his entire life in the Millville area. In his very early years, he spent time in the US Navy and returned home where he worked at the gas company and Owens Illinois. He found a home as a member of the Teamsters Local 470. He spent 30 years driving truck and retired from Preston Trucking. He then ventured into the Home Depot to spend 5 years working on the floor and making deliveries. From there, he retired from the working world.
With a difficult childhood, he often would say his best choice in life was marrying Carol (Musto). They married young, raised a family, traveled the ups and downs of a marriage and spent 60 years together until Carol passed in 2021. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, music, motorcycling, keeping a nice home/yard and certainly the casino. He had a great sense of humor through most of his life and was fun to be around and in the same breath could be very difficult and stubborn. He was an avid collector. You name it, he collected it, but his main collections were coins, stamps and tins.
After Carol, he found the Haleyville Senior Center where he enjoyed playing Pinochle every Thursday with the ladies and prided himself in winning most of the time. In his own words, “it’s time to cash out.” Peace and love to John.
He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Choko (John); 4 grandchildren, Andi Choko, Cody Tozer, Jack Choko and Montana Jacobs; 3 great grandchildren; brothers Charles Porch (Anita), Carl Porch, Robert Porch; and sisters, Helen Marie Moyer (Ralph) and Peggy Porch. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Carol (Musto) Tozer; son, Frank Tozer; brother, Jimmy Porch; mother, Helen Tozer Burdsall.
